Edisto Island Beach Rules and Regulations
- Swim at Your Own Risk.
- Dogs allowed. Must be leashed from May 1st through October 31st. Owners are responsible for removing pet waste.
- No Overnight Camping
- If you dig it, fill it.
- Canopies and umbrellas must be taken up at sunset. Beach equipment must not be left overnight.
- Not allowed: Glass, Open Burning, Grills, Camping, Fireworks, Destruction of Beach Vegetation, Disturbing Nesting Turtles or Hatchling Turtles, Golf Carts, Motorized Vehicles, or Litter. Edisto Island’s motto is “Please leave only your footprints in the sand.”
Botany Bay Plantation
Located on Edisto Island is Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve. There are plenty of shells to see at Botany Bay because beachgoers can’t remove anything from this protected beach. Painted Buntings are a common sight here on the hammock islands during the season.
Botany Bay features a famous boneyard beach and offers free parking. After enjoying the beach, you can tour the entire plantation in your car. Guide maps are provided for the vehicle tour. Please return the guide maps as you are leaving.
So, enjoy a day at the more secluded beaches at Edisto Beach State Park or Botany Bay Plantation if you have the time. Also, check the hours of operation before visiting. Fishing Jason’s Lake at Botany Bay Plantation
Jason’s Lake is open for fishing Friday through Sunday. Two adults can fish with each child under 17 years of age. Try your luck for Red Drum, Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, and much more! Be sure to purchase a SC fishing license and Wildlife Management Area(WMA) permit.

Edisto Golf Courses

The one golf course on Edisto Beach is The Plantation Course, located in the Wyndham Resort. This beautiful course is open to the public. Although this is not a relatively long golf course, the water hazards and deep rough make it challenging. Book a Tee Time at The Plantation Course on Edisto. If you are heading out to Edisto Beach, be sure to check out the Edisto Island Serpentarium. The Serpentarium is a popular attraction on Edisto Island, SC.
